LocalePack localized itself into 52 languages — with LocalePack

The best proof that a localization tool works is using it on your own product. So we ran the entire LocalePack site — every landing page, FAQ, and guide intro — through LocalePack itself, and shipped it in 52 languages. Here is what it cost and why we did it.

Every label, button, FAQ answer, and guide intro across the LocalePack site was translated in one pass: 2,863,428 tokens across 2,427 OpenAI requests, for a total spend of $27.37. The same upload → pay once → download flow our customers use — run on ourselves.

The challenge

LocalePack sells localization to a worldwide developer audience — yet a site that only speaks English is a weak argument for going multilingual. Beyond credibility, there is the same SEO reality every product faces: a developer searching in German for “Chrome-Erweiterung übersetzen” or in Japanese for “next-intl 翻訳” is far more likely to find — and trust — a page written in their language. An English-only site simply never appears for most of those queries.

The catch: our site is a Next.js next-intl app with thousands of message keys, interpolation placeholders, and a brand name that must never be translated. Hand-translating that into 52 languages, or paying a per-seat TMS subscription to do it, was never going to happen.

How LocalePack helped

We uploaded our own en.json message file to LocalePack — the exact same product our customers use. It detected the next-intl format, priced the job up front, and returned ready-to-ship locale files for all 52 languages in the same structure.

  • Placeholders & ICU preserved. Every {count} and plural rule came back intact, so the translated site rendered correctly with no code changes.
  • The brand stayed the brand. “LocalePack” is kept verbatim in every language — names aren’t translated.
  • Pay-once economics. The full 52-language translation cost $27.37 as a one-time job — not a recurring platform bill.

The results

The site you are reading is the result: LocalePack now ships in 52 languages. Every landing page and guide became a set of native-language, indexable URLs that can rank for low-competition queries in markets an English-only site never reached — and visitors who arrive in their own language stay to read instead of bouncing.

Takeaway

Reaching a global audience isn’t a months-long engineering effort — it’s mostly a translation problem with a price tag. We solved ours for the cost of a few coffees, and turned our own site into 52 doorways for developers to find LocalePack in their own language.
