What's the difference between this and the Chrome extension translation?

The Chrome extension module translates your in-extension messages.json file (UI strings). This module translates your Chrome Web Store listing — the name, short description, and full store description that users see on the store page. Both produce the same _locales/ ZIP format.

What are the character limits?

Extension Name: max 75 characters, Short Description: max 132 characters, Store Description: max 16,000 characters. These limits are enforced per-language — we ensure every translation fits within CWS limits.

How do I upload translations to Chrome Web Store?

Your ZIP includes an automation script (automate.js). Open the CWS Developer Dashboard → Store Listing tab, paste the script in DevTools console, select the _locales folder, and it fills in all languages automatically. Step-by-step guide included.

What happens to storeDesc in manifest.json?

The storeDesc key is NOT used in manifest.json — it's only for the CWS Dashboard. Your manifest.json references appName and shortDesc via __MSG_appName__ and __MSG_shortDesc__ placeholders. The store description is uploaded separately through the CWS UI.

How is pricing calculated?

Pricing is based on a $9.99 minimum fee plus a per-language cost that scales with your text's token count. Longer store descriptions = higher prices. You see the exact price before you pay.

Are emoji and formatting preserved?

Yes. Our AI preserves emoji characters (🔥, ⭐, etc.), line breaks, bullet points, numbered lists, and brand names exactly as you wrote them. Only the translatable text is converted.

What languages are supported?

We support all 52 Chrome Web Store locales: German, French, Spanish, Japanese, Korean, Chinese (Simplified & Traditional), Arabic, Hindi, Russian, and many more. Each locale uses the correct CWS locale code.

Can I also translate my in-extension strings?

Yes! Use our Chrome extension module to translate your messages.json file for in-extension UI strings. Both modules produce the same _locales/ ZIP format, so you can combine the outputs.

How CWS listing i18n works

Chrome Web Store uses the same _locales/ folder structure as in-extension i18n. Your listing's name and short description are referenced in manifest.json via __MSG_*__ placeholders, while the full store description is uploaded directly to the CWS Dashboard.
